Ella A. Bolster
Died: 1999-12-02

SHREWSBURY - Ella A. (Phelps) Bolster, 88, formerly of West Boylston and Shrewsbury, died Thursday, Dec. 2, in the Odd Fellows Home, Worcester, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 46 years, Harold D. Bolster Sr.; two daughters, Priscilla R. Foresteire of Princeton and Pearl M. Richter of St. George, Utah; four stepsons, Harold Bolster Jr. of India, George Bolster of Winthrop, Forest Bolster of Germany and Charles Bolster of Leicester; a stepdaughter, Marjorie Gouch of Shrewsbury; nine grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was born in West Boylston, daughter of Henry E. and Nellie M. (Shaw) Phelps, and lived many years in West Boylston and Shrewsbury before moving to Worcester recently. Mrs. Bolster attended First Congregational Church of West Boylston.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in Miles Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour is 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions made to a charity.



Harold D. Bolster
Died: 2002-07-14

SHREWSBURY -- Harold D. Bolster Sr., 96, of 11 Gleason Road, a retired truck driver, died Sunday, July 14, in The Odd Fellows Home in Worcester.

His wife, Ella (Phelps) Bolster, died in 1999. He leaves four sons, Harold D. Bolster Jr. of Goa, India, George W. Bolster of Winthrop, Forrest E. Bolster of Wurtzburg, Germany, and Charles H. Bolster Sr. of Leicester; a daughter, Marjorie I. Gauch of Shrewsbury; two step-daughters, Priscilla Foresteire of Princeton and Pearl Richter of St. George, Utah; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Boston, son of Warren and Fannie Bolster, and lived 37 years in Shrewsbury.

Mr. Bolster was a truck driver for New England Hardboard Co., Worcester, for 15 years, retiring in 1974. He enjoyed travel and boating.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, in Trinity Episcopal Church, 440 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in the Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Mary A. Bolster
Died: 1982-03-16

HOLDEN - Mary A. (Lombard) Bolster, 76 of Manning Street died yesterday in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester.

She was a seamstress at David Clark Co. Inc., Worcester, before retiring in 1963.

She leaves two sons, Charles Bolster of Worcester and Forrest Bolster in West Germany; three daughters, Marjorie Gauch of Shrewsbury, Doris Harrington of Fitchburg and Irene Fredette of Templeton; a brother, Grandville Lombard of Palmer; four sisters, Pearl Harrington of Worcester, Grace Steadman of Princeton, Katherine Mirick of Holden and Elsie Gross of Tampa, Fla, and 11 grandchildren.

She was born in Hubbardston, daughter of Granville and Marry (Lundeen) Lombard, and lived in Holden for 37 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church, 440 Main St., Shrewsbury. The Rev. G. Garrett Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

Calling hours at Gould Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston, are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.



Howard Scott Davis
Born: 1884-06-02
Died: 1964-06-28

Worcester T&G - June 30th 1964

RUTLAND - Howard Scott Davis, 80, of 150 Maple Ave., retired carpenter, died in the City Hospital.

Mr. Davis had worked at the Rutland Veterans Administration Hospital for 30 years. He retired in 1954.

Born in Rutland, he was a son of the late Hiram J. and Caroline (Scott) Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Rutland Congregational Church, Rutland Grange and Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Rutland.

He leaves his widow, Mildred (Brown) Davis; a son Howard S. Davis Jr. of Rutland; a daughter Diana, wife of Forrest Bolster in Germany; three grandchildren, Susan, David and Richard Bolster, all in Germany, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm. today in Miles Funeral Home. 1158 Main St., Holden Center. Rev. Charles W. Crooker will officiate. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.



Mildred S. Davis
Born: 1902-12-28
Died: 1982-03-26

RUTLAND - Mildred S. (Brown) Davis, 79, of 150 Maple Ave. died Friday in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester

Her husband, Howard S. Davis Sr., died in 1964.

Mrs. Davis worked in the cafeteria at Wachusett Regional High School, Holden, for several years before retiring.

She leaves a son, H. Scott Davis Jr. of Rutland; a daughter Diana C. Bolster of Holden; a sister Ruth, wife of Ralph Winsor of Narragansett, RI and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Davis was born in Gardner, daughter of Charles E. and Minnie A. (Ryder) Brown, and lived in Rutland since 1938.

She was a member of the Rutland Congregational Church, the church's Monday Night Club and the Persis Putnam Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of Rutland.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Rutland Congregational Church, Main Street. The Rev. Richard S. Pryce will officiate. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, are 6 to 8 tonight.

The family requests flowers be omitted and suggests contributions be made to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind, 51 Harvard St, Worcester.



Irene Jordan
Died: 2004-02-01

HOLDEN Irene (Horne) Jordan, 92, formerly of Holden, died February 1, 2004, in The Hermitage, Worcester, after a short illness.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne J. and H. Scott Davis of Rutland; two granddaughters, Tracy A. Erickson and her husband Karl R. of Barre, and Kerry A. Davis and her fiance Scott C. Metcalf of Holden; and a great-grandson Jarod D. Erickson. She is also survived by her brother, Everett C. Horne of Leicester; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband, W. Sumner Jordan, and her brother, Elmer E. Horne, predeceased her. She was born in Leicester, daughter of Clarence W. and Mary Ellen (Walsh) Horne, and she graduated from Leicester High School and Fairchild Business School.

Mrs. Jordan was a charter member of Leicester Grange and a current member of Holden Grange and Worcester Central Pomona. She was secretary for her husband's family business, Cleighton Farms (Jordan Dairy Farms) and ran their retail store in Holden center, The Dairy Basket. She also worked for several other dairies and the Holden Hardware. She volunteered at the Corner Shop at the Holden Congregational Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed baking, knitting and crocheting.

The funeral service for Mrs. Jordan will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden, in the spring. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
